Pietra Pinta is named after one of the crucial battles which decided the destinies of the ancient Rome – the civil war between Gaius Marius and Lucius Cornelius Sulla leading the collapse of the Roman Republic and establishment of the Roman Empire. Pietra Pinta embodies the spirit of Cori territorium whose character is shaped by an ancient history started between the tenth and the nineth century BC, much earlier than Rome foundation, featuring the legends of the heroes of the mythic battle of Troy. Pietra Pinta literally means ‘painted stone’ because a legend narrates of a stone red-tinted in memory of the bloods of those historical battles, so important for the identity and the political strength of the ancient town of Cora, the former name of Cori. Pietra Pinta company of the Ferretty family has worked since the early 1800s the extraordinary harvests of the vineyards and olive trees in Cori. From the start, Pietra Pinta has featured a perfect blend of innovation and tradition, making research and experimentation its founding concepts. One of the founding fathers, Bruno Ferretti, consolidated mechanised technologies and the work of the last generation of grandchildren, Francesco and Cesare, led to the acquisition of the status of ‘experimental winery’ in 1988.
The search for ancient varieties of grapes, the continuous innovation in olive oil quality and purity, the environmental low-impact and the perfect integration with the local territory are the key points of Pietra Pinta success.
